I’m really into self-improvement. Not because there’s anything wrong with me. (In fact, we are all okay, right now, already. How great is that?!) It’s just that more often than not, I can be better.

And since nothing stays the same no matter what, I figure I might as well do what I can to positively influence my trajectory.

All of which is to say that I sometimes work with affirmations, and yesterday I was inspired to compose one. Then, not ten minutes later, I saw something in nature—or as close to nature as New York City gets—that confirmed my affirmation.

Joyful possibility is an ambitious bloom.

“My life is teeming with joyful possibility,” I assured myself as I walked out the door, and when I turned the corner a minute later, I noticed a flower doing its utmost to agree.

Not only was it blooming tall and joyful, but there was a second flower sprouting straight up out of the first. A blossom upon a blossom! Talk about possibility!

And as beautiful as the flowers were, their surroundings meant even more. Because it’s easy to embrace joyful possibility when everything around you is lush.

But what if your nearest neighbors are a used tissue, a cigarette butt, a wad of gum, and what looks to be a discarded battery?

No matter! Bloom anyway! Bloom so big your blossom gets a bloom!

That’s what the flowers told me yesterday, and what I feel like sharing this #thankyouthursday.

Possibility is EVERYWHERE. Joy is ALWAYS accessible. Believing that is a choice—and flowers can provide the proof.

Love > fear,

Christina

p.s. Just in case you’re wondering how I did last week in my first-ever 5K: I finished 4,057 out of 5,079 runners. Amazing, right?! I FINISHED!!
