This will be my thirteenth summer in New York. I kind of can’t believe so much time has passed since my first exposure to Manhattan’s thick heat and teeming streets, but here we are.

And while there is plenty to appreciate about the city in the summer, over the last two weeks I’ve experienced the landscapes of three other states, and it turns out I am very grateful for non-Manhattan nature.

Manhattan sunsets look a little different.

In particular, I am grateful for non-city sunsets.

There’s a line from a Dixie Chicks song I love, where the singer longs to “look at the horizon and not see a building standing tall.”

I got the chance to do that last weekend, and it was beautiful. Peaceful, quiet, and full of reassurance that all is well. And I believe all will be even better.

Love>fear,

Christina

p.s. If you like meditation or have considered trying it, there is a free opportunity that starts next week. I will be taking part and would welcome some friendly company!
